Demands for a Transparent Investigation into Sudanese Certificate Examination Results

Moatinoon
The Sudanese Teachers Committee called for a transparent and independent investigation into the errors that accompanied the announcement of the postponed 2023 Sudanese Certificate Examination results, and for justice for aggrieved students, along with a review of technical contracts related to results inquiry services.

It objected to what it described as violations and shortcomings that marred the Sudanese Certificate Examinations, the results of which were announced last Thursday at a press conference.

The committee said in a statement yesterday that approximately 400,000 students were deprived of their legitimate right to sit for the exam simply because they reside in areas outside the control of the armed forces, despite the fact that these areas contain existing schools and a significant student population.

It described the manner in which the Sudanese Certificate Examination results were announced as hasty, pointing to clear errors during the press conference held by the ministry, in addition to errors made when requesting results through the telecommunications company with which the ministry had contracted.

The committee expressed its objection to setting the exam date for the current batch on June 29. In its statement, it stated that the fall season will increase transportation difficulties in some provinces. It warned against making fateful decisions amid a stifling security and economic crisis that threatens the safety of students and teachers and the success of the entire examination process.

The committee called on the Ministry of Education to conduct a comprehensive and serious review of its approach and adopt a fair educational approach that takes into account the reality on the ground, guarantees the participation of all Sudanese citizens without discrimination or exclusion, and avoids attempts to make education a means of perpetuating the reality of war.
