The Sudanese Journalists Syndicate announced the killing of one of its members in Nahud, the capital of West Kordofan state, by Rapid Support Forces (RSF). At the same time, the Emergency Room announced the arrest of six of its members following the raid on the city. Eighteen civilians were also killed.
The syndicate said in a statement today that radio broadcaster Hassan Fadl al-Mawla Musa was killed by RSF gunfire in Nahud yesterday, Thursday. It added that "the deceased worked as a broadcaster for West Kordofan Radio, a correspondent for Sudanese Radio, and a correspondent for Biladi Radio."
Mayor Mohamed al-Fateh Mustafa said that the RSF stormed the city after entering with a force of approximately 300 combat vehicles. He added to Citizens that the forces executed a number of citizens, whose names are being counted, in addition to looting banks, shops, and citizens vehicles and property.
The Sudanese Journalists Syndicate announced in a statement last month, marking the second anniversary of the outbreak of the war, that 28 journalists had been killed by warring parties in Sudan. The Sudanese Journalists Syndicate stated that "the war has forced the surviving journalists to flee or seek refuge, and more than 90% of journalists have lost their jobs, leaving them lost and unemployed."
For its part, the West Kordofan Emergency Room stated that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) had arrested six of its members and transferred them to an unknown location.
The room noted that the state capital hosts more than 45,000 displaced persons in camps and shelters. It expressed concern for the detainees and the safety of citizens following the RSFs announcement of its control of the city.
It is worth noting that members of emergency rooms and humanitarian workers in war zones are frequently subjected to violations and arrests in areas controlled by the RSF and the army.
