Security Forces Transfer East Nile Takaya Volunteers to Unknown Location

The East Nile Emergency Room has expressed deep concern over the transfer of volunteers, who were detained earlier this week by an armed security force, from the Security Cell Office in Al-Nasr neighborhood to an unknown location.

In a statement released today, the Emergency Room reported that an armed security force arrested volunteers from the East Nile Emergency Room. Volunteer Mujahid Awad was detained on the morning of Friday, April 25, while Tariq Adel and Samir Ibrahim were arrested on the morning of Saturday, April 26. The three were taken to the Security Cell Office in Al-Nasr neighborhood, East Nile.

The Emergency Room noted that the detained volunteers, along with their colleagues, have been playing major humanitarian roles since the outbreak of war on April 15, 2023. They have contributed to managing communal kitchens (Takayas), supporting health centers, and providing water and basic services to affected communities—without any political agenda.

It also revealed that these volunteers had previously been targeted and arrested by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) while performing these humanitarian duties.

The statement stressed that the continued targeting of volunteers sends alarming signals at a time when everyone is hoping for a safe environment that enables humanitarian workers to carry out their mission.

The Emergency Room and the families of the detainees have not been informed of the reasons for the arrests. No formal charges have been filed, nor have the families or emergency rooms been officially notified of the volunteers’ place of detention.

The East Nile Emergency Room holds the arresting security authority fully responsible for the safety of the volunteers and demanded their immediate release “so they may continue their humanitarian duty alongside their fellow volunteers in serving their communities.
