Emergency Lawyers Condemns Killing of Civilians in Al-Salha Area, Omdurman

The Emergency Lawyers group condemned the brutal crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Al-Salha area of Omdurman, holding the forces leaders fully legally and criminally responsible for the liquidation and deliberate killing of civilians.

The group stated that RSF personnel documented, through video recordings, the crime of liquidating unarmed civilians in the Al-Salha area of Omdurman. It added that the clips showed shocking scenes of the cold-blooded killing of civilians and included an explicit admission by a RSF commander that he had issued direct orders to liquidate civilians.

The group emphasized that the existence of this evidence, which came from within the ranks of the forces that carried out the crime, proves beyond a shadow of a doubt the deliberate and systematic nature of these violations.

It indicated that the liquidation of unarmed civilians constitutes a grave violation of all international conventions, most notably the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law, and amounts to war crimes and crimes against humanity. The group considered that the systematic commission of these crimes, documented in public video footage, reflects the Rapid Support Forces disregard for civilian lives and confirms their policy of impunity as a systematic approach to terrorizing civilians and imposing their authority by force.

The group called for immediate deterrent measures to ensure that perpetrators do not escape punishment.
