9 Killed in Drone Strikes Targeting Atbara City

A displaced persons camp in the city of Atbara was hit by powerful drone strikes early Friday morning, which were reportedly aimed at the Atbara power substation in the Al-Muqrin area. Two drones fell on the camp near the iron bridge connecting Atbara and Damer, resulting in the deaths of several displaced people and injuring dozens.

An eyewitness told Citizens that nine displaced individuals were killed and will be buried in Al-Muqrin Cemetery, while dozens of injured were transported to the police hospital.

According to a statement from the Atbara Electricity Media Coordination Council, the Atbara substation was targeted by drones for the fourth time at dawn today.

The strikes damaged the substation, causing a power outage in both River Nile and Red Sea states.
