The Sudan Doctors Network said today that Rapid Support Forces killed 74 civilians and injured 178 others in an attack on a village in West Kordofan State, in the south of the country.
The medical network (a non-governmental organization) said in a statement: "A Rapid Support Forces force carried out a heinous massacre against the residents of Al-Zafa village in Al-Adiya District, West Kordofan State."
It added: "The Rapid Support Forces stormed the village, killing 74 people, including 12 children and 9 women, while 178 others were injured with varying degrees of severity."
The network emphasized that these forces "did not respect the most basic human rights, which criminalize the killing of unarmed civilians, the looting of their property, and the burning of their homes."
It called on the United Nations and international organizations to exert "greater pressure on the Rapid Support Forces to stop these violations."
In June 2024, the Rapid Support Forces took control of Al-Fula, the capital of West Kordofan, but were unable to control its main cities, including Nahud and Babanusa, which are under army control.
Earlier today, the Sudanese army announced that it had killed 60 Rapid Support Forces members while repelling an attack launched by these forces on El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state in the west of the country.
Days earlier, the Rapid Support Forces attacked the Zamzam camp for internally displaced persons in North Darfur and declared control of it, following clashes with the army and its supporting forces that left 400 dead and tens of thousands displaced, according to the United Nations.
