On the morning of Monday, April 21, the first session of the Al-Tariq Forum was held at the Addisina Hall in Kassala, with wide participation from activists working in the fields of peace and social cohesion. The forum brought together representatives from the Youth Coalition for Peaceful Coexistence, peace-building bodies, as well as several youth, feminist, and media organizations.
The session was titled "The Historical Development of Militias and Paramilitary Forces in Sudan", and featured a presentation and analysis of the book “Sudan’s Peace: The Swamp of Militias and Paramilitary Forces” by author Amir Babiker Abdullah, published by the Citizens’ Center for Peace Culture Journalism.
The forum is considered an important platform for dialogue, aiming to deepen discussion around peace and community cohesion by engaging with intellectual publications and analyzing them in the context of Sudan’s current reality.
