As the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continued shelling El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, the Sudanese army’s air force launched new airstrikes on the Hamrat Al-Sheikh area in the same state.
According to the El-Obeid Mubasher page on Facebook, the RSF has been bombarding the city of El-Obeid for the sixth consecutive day, firing more than five shells since Iftar during Ramadan.
Meanwhile, an RSF unit attempted to loot commercial trucks in the Umm Kuridem area, west of Bara, but local residents repelled the attack, forcing them to retreat.
At the same time, RSF forces ambushed a commercial convoy heading to El-Obeid, resulting in 17 civilians being killed or wounded before seizing 31 vehicles loaded with crops.
On the other hand, the Sudanese army’s warplanes launched new airstrikes on Monday evening, targeting several areas in Hamrat Al-Sheikh, North Kordofan. The strikes hit markets and civilian gathering spots, causing multiple casualties, according to a statement from the Emergency Lawyers Group.
The statement reported that an Antonov aircraft bombed Hamrat Al-Sheikh market, Al-Tawahin market, and Al-Zaraf mine using five barrel bombs, killing two civilians and injuring five others with varying degrees of wounds.
According to the statement, the wounded were transferred to Hamrat Al-Sheikh Hospital, which is suffering from severe shortages of medicine and medical supplies, endangering the lives of the injured and limiting their chances of receiving proper treatment.
