
IOM: More than 3,450 families displaced in North Darfur

The International Organization for Migration announced today that more than 3,450 families were displaced from villages in North Darfur State, western Sudan, within two days, due to worsening insecurity.
The international organization said in a statement: "About 2,653 families were displaced from different villages throughout the Dar al-Salam area, North Darfur, on Saturday, due to worsening insecurity."
The international organization stated that the families were displaced from the villages of "Halla Abdullah Mustafa, Umm Arada, Abakr Khashim, Ismail Badawi, Umm Radim, Basham, Sanana, Rayda, Kanbi, and Umm Dorni. In addition to the villages of Bant Sharq, Bant Khareeb, and Halla Khazan, to other locations within Al-Fasher locality, North Darfur.
The statement added: "Also, about 800 families were displaced from the village of "Ad Al-Baida" in the Kalamundo area of North Darfur State on Friday, due to increasing insecurity. He pointed out that these families were displaced to other locations in Kalamundo, North Darfur.
Since April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces have been waging a war that has left more than 20,000 dead and about 15 million displaced and refugees, according to the United Nations and local authorities, while research by American universities estimated the number of dead at about 130,000.
