An emergency room south of the belt said today that 28 civilians were killed Sunday when Amunyas gas station, at the new Market 6 in the Mayo area of southern Khartoum, came under bombardment without specifying the nature of the shelling or the destination, but the area is under the control of the Rapid Support Forces.

The Sudanese army, which has been fighting the RSF since April 2023, has been moving towards the capital in recent weeks, trying to regain control of Khartoum.

On Sunday, the gas station in southern Khartoum controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) came under bombardment. The Chamber confirmed that 28 civilians were killed by the shelling, while 37 wounded, including 29 burns and 8 shrapnel wounds.

In late November, the Sudanese army said it had recovered Sinja, the capital of Sennar state, south of Khartoum, five months after it was seized by the Rapid Support Forces.

Sanja is regarded as a strategic area because it is located on a major road linking army-held areas in eastern and central Sudan.
