Australian-Sudanese journalist and writer Adel Qasas, resident of Melbourne, lost four members of his family in recent attacks on his home state of Al Jazeera. Qisas pointed out that the loss had affected everyone to varying degrees, and Qisas was not optimistic about the international communitys ability to resolve the crisis of its motherland.

Al Qasas, who lost four members of his family, said: "All international efforts are symbolic and have no impact on the ground. Everyone considers that the violation will affect the fighting parties, and the Sudanese citizen is the biggest loser."

He adds: "The community is bereaved. Everyone has lost a relative or a friend. One of my friends from the supervisors family lost 31 members of his family, what happens on the island is an indescribable liquidation. "

Since mid-April 2023, the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been fighting a war that has left more than 20 thousand people dead and more than 13 million refugees, according to estimates from the United Nations and local authorities, while some organizations have monitored double figures for victims.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that more than 343 thousand people, constituting some 68 thousand families, have been displaced from various locations in central Sudans Jazeera state to other states due to growing insecurity and escalating RSF attacks since last October 20.

Ted Chiban, UNICEFs Deputy Executive Director, said that more attention must be paid to the crisis that had led to 11 million internally displaced persons and about half of the 50 million people suffering from food shortages.
