A Sudanese refugee was killed, and another injured today in Tunisia after two Tunisian farmers opened fire on them in Sfax Governorate, located in central Tunisia.

Eyewitnesses informed "Citizens" by phone from Kilometer 34 in the city of Al-Mastariyah, Jbeniana District, in Sfax, that a Tunisian farmer shot Sudanese refugee Muhannad Saeed Adam, from Gadaref State, Wad Adida locality, with a hunting rifle, killing him instantly. Shortly after, another farmer shot Abdullah Youssef Jumaa, from Geneina, West Darfur State, Krain locality, who rushed to help Muhannad Saeed, leaving him critically injured and later transferred to the hospital for treatment.

Muhannad Saeed was shot around 7:30 AM while relieving himself in the field, which angered the farmer, prompting him to open fire. When Abdullah Youssef Jumaa attempted to assist, a second farmer arrived and also shot him.

Eyewitnesses reported they were unable to evacuate the two wounded refugees immediately due to the arrival of four other farmers on motorcycles, two of whom were also armed with hunting rifles. This forced one of the refugees to call the police, who eventually arrived and transported both men to the hospital. However, Muhannad Saeed Adam succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital.

One of the refugees stated that he saw the police arrest the farmer who shot Muhannad Saeed but is unsure if they can pursue the case or manage the burial of the deceased. Refugees tend to avoid approaching government institutions for fear of being arrested and deported to the borders with Algeria and Libya, often after being stripped of their personal belongings.
