The South Belt Emergency Room announced that 3 children had died from complications from malnutrition, while the East Nile Emergency Room announced that 5 cases of cholera had died.
The South Belt Chamber said that the therapeutic feeding department of Bashar Hospital had seen three children under the age of two die from complications of malnutrition, which had become a threat to children in the South Belt region.
It warned of the regions health risks caused by the war, which had led to a significant increase in malnutrition among infants and young children.
At the same time, the Chamber, in coordination with the blood bank of Bashar Hospital, launched a blood donation campaign for the operation of the Women and Obstetrics Department, which yesterday was interrupted by the expiration of the strategic blood and emergency stocks. Todays campaign lasts for 10 days.
For its part, the East Nile Emergency Room announced the registration of new cases of cholera sufferers at Umm Dawwa Ban Teaching Hospital. The cumulative rate of registered cases has risen to 74, including 5 deaths from Saturday, October 15 to October 19.
The hospital administration noted that a number of medical personnel were infected with cholera, further complicating the service delivery of the health unit amid the scarcity of its staff.
