Sudanese volunteer Nada Fadl has won the 2024 Nansen Refugee Award for the Middle East and North Africa region.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced that Nada was selected as the regional winner of the 2024 Nansen Refugee Award for the Middle East and North Africa in recognition of her selflessness and dedicated work in helping fellow refugees.
Nada Fadl, a Sudanese refugee, has successfully mobilized vital assistance for hundreds of families forced to flee to Egypt in search of safety. She runs a youth-led community center in Alexandria, Egypt, where refugees receive free healthcare services and skills training.
The global and regional award winners will be honored at a special ceremony hosted in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 14, 2023.
UNHCR highlighted Nada Fadl’s efforts in a video shared on YouTube.
The Nansen Refugee Award recognizes individuals, groups, and organizations committed to the protection of refugees, displaced people, and stateless individuals.
The award was established in 1954 in honor of Fridtjof Nansen, a Norwegian scientist, polar explorer, diplomat, and the first High Commissioner for Refugees under the League of Nations.
