The South Al-Hizam Emergency Room has reported a sharp increase in food prices in some markets. The room stated that prices have skyrocketed, with the price of a kilo of sugar reaching 7,000 Sudanese pounds.

The room monitored food prices in the New Market 6, where the price of a 20-kilo bag of lentils reached 95,000 pounds, and a 20-kilo bag of rice (Kabsa) also reached 95,000 pounds.
The price of a 25-kilo bag of Egyptian rice increased to 85,000 pounds, and a 10-kilo bag of sugar reached 65,000 pounds. The price of a 25-kilo bag of bakery flour reached 85,000 pounds.
The price of grains and legumes also saw a sharp increase, with 7 kilos of lentils priced at 360,000 pounds and a bag of fava beans reaching 700,000 pounds. Additionally, the price of charcoal, which is used as an alternative to cooking gas, increased, with a bag of charcoal costing 55,000 pounds.
The price increases extended to vegetables and meat as well, with a 120-pound bag of vegetables priced at 120,000 pounds, and a kilo of meat reaching 16,000 pounds.
