
170 deaths in a week in Khartoums south belt

The area south of the belt in Khartoum faces a stifling health crisis after the esoteric section of Bashair Hospital was completely out of work, where the department received about 120-210 cases per day.
According to statistics monitored by the Medical Office of the Southern Belt Emergency Chamber, 170 deaths occurred over the past week, and some 1,450 people were infected with dengue and 1153 with malaria and abyssal fever.
The South Belt Emergency Room said the regions health conditions were worsening after the widespread spread of dengue, along with malaria, typhoid and abyssal fever.
She noted the expensive cost of private clinic treatment compared to the regions per capita income, where many people died because they did not have the cost of treatment.
The region suffers from a severe shortage of medicines, a lack of lifesaving medicines in pharmacies and a dramatic increase in the price of medicines, which holds 800%, especially intravenous solutions and preventive treatments.
The Chamber noted that the recorded statistics of the infected persons who arrived at health centres "and that there are large numbers of cases that do not reach the hospital and health centres and prepare the largest reception of their deaths before their arrival for treatment at the Bashair hospital and health centres in the south of the belt.
