The Haj Yousif Emergency Response Room has issued an urgent appeal to civil society organizations and health institutions to provide intravenous fluids, malaria medications, treatments for dysentery and stomach bacteria, and fever remedies.
The statement highlighted the deteriorating health situation in the Haj Yousif area, where there is a severe shortage of medications, intravenous fluids, laboratory equipment, and pulse monitoring devices.
It also mentioned the lack of fuel required to operate the generators that power laboratories, refrigeration units, and cooling systems.
Emergency rooms have been increasingly reporting the worsening health conditions and the spread of diseases in recent times. The Emergency Room in Kalakla announced that the last stock of childrens nutritional treatments for malnutrition has run out, and the nutrition department has ceased providing services due to the lack of medical and nutritional supplies since the outbreak of the war.
Additionally, the Emergency Room in Jareef East has suspended its activities as all medical staff and most of the working personnel have fallen ill.
Their statement on social media noted that the number of fever patients is rising alarmingly day by day, with malaria accounting for the largest share of cases. Malaria treatments are nearly unavailable, and when found, they are priced beyond the reach of ordinary citizens.
