Today, a Cairo Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Sayed El-Touny, referred the case of the accused murderer of Sudanese child "Janet" to the Grand Mufti of Egypt for a religious opinion, in preparation for his execution. The court set October 8 as the date to announce the final verdict in a case that has shocked the public due to the age of the victim, who was only 10 months old.

The Public Prosecution had previously ordered the referral of the accused, who is charged with the crimes of kidnapping, sexual assault, and premeditated murder of the Sudanese child, to the competent criminal court for trial. These crimes are punishable by death.

The Prosecution received a notification about the discovery of the victims body in a public park near her home in Nasr City, Cairo. They immediately moved to inspect the crime scene and examine the body.

Investigations, based on the testimonies of the child’s parents, revealed that the accused had kidnapped the victim while she was playing with her sister in front of their house. He then took her to a nearby park, assaulted her, and when she started screaming, he strangled her to death. The accused confessed to committing the crime according to this narrative, which was confirmed by the autopsy report.

A psychiatric report from a session held on July 6 revealed a surprising detail in the case of the rape and murder of Sudanese child Janet in Egypt, confirming the mental soundness of the killer.

The court received the psychiatric report at the beginning of the session, which confirmed that the killer was fully aware of his actions and was mentally sound at the time of committing the crime.

The first session of the trial, held in May, was marked by tight security measures. The accused appeared to show signs of "regret and remorse." A large number of Sudanese citizens attended the session, along with the childs parents, who wore clothes printed with Janets picture and the words: "The Innocent Child."

The trial began with the opening statement by the victims defense attorney, who expressed his disbelief at the heinous act committed by the accused against the innocent child. He stressed that the perpetrator had completely stripped himself of any sense of mercy or humanity by committing such a horrific crime against a 10-month-old baby.

The attorney urged the court to impose the maximum penalty on the accused to serve as a deterrent to others who might consider committing such a crime, which is the death penalty by hanging.
