Youth gathering in Kassala demands arrest of murder accused

The Beni Amer and Habab Youth Gathering in Kassala State has announced its intention to escalate pressure on the responsible authorities in the state to arrest those accused of killing a young man in Wad Sharifi.

A statement released yesterday by the gathering mentioned that the young man, Al-Amin Mohamed Nour, died after being detained by a group affiliated with the National Security and Intelligence Service in Kassala State in the town of Wad Sharifi. The statement said he lost his life as a result of torture after being transferred to Kassala.

According to the statement, the autopsy report at Kassala Hospital confirmed the presence of bruises on large parts of his body.

The statement held the director of the National Security and Intelligence Service in the state and Kassala locality responsible and demanded his dismissal. It also stated that the deceaseds body would not be accepted until the suspects are arrested, brought before the prosecution, and handed over to the police.

The statement called on the members of the gathering to exercise restraint and to express themselves peacefully in order to achieve justice and protect public property.
