Moatinoon
International IDEA (Sudan Office) organized a roundtable discussion in the Ugandan capital Kampala from 16 to 18 August to discuss issues of Eastern Sudan and Red Sea security under the title: Issues of Peace, Peaceful Coexistence and Development in Eastern Sudan.
The roundtable includes experts in the fields of sociology, law, political science, economics, development and conflict resolution.
The roundtable agenda was designed around three main axes, the first on the historical and social context of the Eastern Sudan region. The second axis covers development issues, and the third axis discusses Red Sea security issues, which include topics of international cross-border crimes.
These issues were covered by speakers from prominent national, international universities and independent scholars in the issues of the Eastern Sudan and the Red Sea.
International IDEA implemented this roundtable as part of its efforts to establish dialogue platforms for democratic and transparent discussions on urgent and important Sudanese issues in the process of building sustainable peace in Sudan.
These dialogues are implemented in long-term partnership with the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and the European Commission in Sudan.
