Today, Saturday, the Sudanese Teachers Committee launched the "Great Teachers Campaign to End the War in Sudan," aiming to amplify the teachers voices against the war, demand peace, and draw global attention to the repercussions of the conflict, the general collapse of the state, and the displacement of Sudanese people, including the halt of education and the collapse of its infrastructure, according to a committee leader.

Sayed Timba, head of the Sudanese Teachers Committee in Kassala State, stated that all Sudanese teachers who believe in stopping the war and supporting civil transformation will participate in the campaign. He pointed out that the campaign also aims to show the consensus of all Sudanese people through their political, professional, trade union, and intellectual entities on the campaigns objectives.

In a statement to "Citizens," he added that the campaign, which will last for three days from July 27 to 30, 2024, under the slogan "Save Our Children from Loss, for They Are Innocent," will include meetings, interview sessions, recorded messages, posters, and models depicting various aspects of the destruction that has afflicted the country, such as food security, education, displacement, death, and the deep state.

The initiative has received widespread support from Sudanese trade unions and political forces. Branches of the Sudanese Teachers Committee and the Sudanese Trade Union Front, which includes elected unions and preparatory committees like the Journalists Union, Doctors Union, Drama Actors Union, and others such as the Initiative to Restore the Engineers Union, the Oil Sector Workers Union, the Sudan Central Pharmacists Committee, the Sudan University of Science and Technology Professors Union, the Democratic Lawyers Front, and the Nyala University Professors Union, as well as political parties, quickly announced their support for the campaign.

While the Civil Assembly of the Nile River (Tamadun) called on teachers in the Nile River State to stand with the initiative, the Sudanese Journalists Union announced its solidarity with the teachers move to stop the war. It called on journalists inside and outside the country to join the campaign and make it successful by covering its activities and raising awareness about the importance of stopping the war and eradicating its psychological and social impacts.

The Nyala University Professors Union praised the campaign and the continuous efforts of the Sudanese Teachers Committee against the war, announcing its full support for all its activities and events. It called on its members and the entire Sudanese population to participate in this campaign, urging for an immediate end to the war and pressuring the parties to come to the negotiation table.
