About Us

Moatinoon is a non-profit Sudanese digital newspaper published by the Moatinoon Center for Peace Culture Journalism.

Our Mission: Yes to peace and dialogue for freedom, democracy, and justice.

Our Stance: We stand on the side of peace and align ourselves with human nature. We reject war, all forms of violence, and human rights violations.

Our Work:
— Promoting a spirit of peace and upholding the principle of dialogue to reach solutions to all issues that give rise to conflict.

— Exposing the consequences of war and all forms of violations of citizens’ rights to life, security, stability, and the aspiration for a better life.

— Supporting and publicizing all humanitarian initiatives that stand for citizens’ right to life and all their rights as enshrined in international conventions.

Funding:
— Moatinoon is a fully nonprofit digital newspaper that neither publishes nor accepts commercial advertisements. We rely on monetary and in-kind donations to fund our work, including donations of equipment and services, as well as volunteer contributions in writing, editing, training, graphic design, translation, and other forms of support that contribute to the newspaper’s continued operation.

- Submitting applications for support from open funding programs offered by organizations that support free and independent media.

- All of our journalists and writers contribute to the newspaper’s editorial content on a volunteer basis.

Promoting Non-Profit Journalism
Moatinoon seeks to systematically establish and promote the concept of non-profit journalism in the Sudanese media landscape by helping to clarify this concept and develop its practices, recognizing it as a qualitative addition following the global expansion it has witnessed in recent years, which has made it the third category in the media landscape alongside commercial journalism and public media, according to some media literature.
