330 Children Killed or Injured in Darfur and Kordofan

The United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF) says that at least 330 children were killed or injured across Sudan during the first six months of 2026, with the highest number of casualties recorded in the Darfur and Kordofan regions, where drone attacks and shelling have intensified the humanitarian crisis.
According to UNICEF, repeated attacks have struck homes, schools, health facilities, water systems and markets, while disrupting humanitarian access. In North Kordofan alone, more than 35 child casualties have been reported since May, including at least 18 children killed.
UNICEF Representative in Sudan Sheldon Yett said children are "being caught in a relentless cycle of violence, displacement and deprivation," urging all parties to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, facilitate unhindered humanitarian access and take all possible measures to protect children from harm.
Separately, the Karnoi Emergency Room appealed to the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to urgently evacuate civilians from Karnoi, warning of rapidly deteriorating humanitarian conditions amid ongoing fighting and severe shortages of food, medicine and essential services, according to its statement.
