Sudan Solidarity Conference Calls for Immediate End to War

Moatinoon
The Sudan Solidarity Conference 2026 has called for an immediate end to the war in Sudan, urging a halt to all military, political, and security support to both the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and demanding accountability for states and corporations involved in arming and financing the conflict.

The conference brought together trade unionists and activists from Sudan, Britain, and beyond, as part of an international solidarity effort to stop the war that has devastated the country since April 2023. According to the conference statement, the conflict has displaced nearly 15 million people, killed hundreds of thousands, and destroyed Sudan’s infrastructure, healthcare and education systems, as well as its cultural heritage.

Participants warned that starvation, denial of medical care, the destruction of communication networks, and sexual violence have been systematically used as weapons of war, while revolutionary forces, trade unionists, activists, and all opponents of the conflict have been deliberately targeted.

The statement held both the SAF and the RSF jointly responsible for the atrocities, describing them as militias that overthrew Sudan’s transitional government in 2021 and have committed genocide and crimes against humanity over decades, while controlling vast economic and military resources.

The conference also condemned the role of international and regional powers — including Russia, the European Union, the United States, the UK government, and several countries in the region — accusing them of undermining Sudan’s 2018 revolution and continuing to provide direct and indirect support to the warring parties.

Reaffirming full solidarity with the Sudanese people, the conference expressed support for refugees and migrants and rejected racist and hostile policies, particularly in the UK.

Participants committed to coordinated action to stop the war, end arms sales, support Sudanese revolutionary forces, recognise resistance committees, emergency response rooms, independent trade unions, women’s organisations and professional associations as legitimate political actors, and link Sudan’s struggle with broader global movements for Palestine solidarity, anti-racism, climate justice, and workers’ rights.
