Professor Ali Rabah has announced his resignation from his post as Academic Secretary of the University of Khartoum, citing direct external pressure that sought to compel him to overlook serious violations affecting the university’s academic records.
In a statement, Rabah said the pressure included demands to remain silent over unauthorized third-party access to the university’s records at the Ministry of Higher Education, halt the digital transformation process and the electronic certificates project, and ignore attempts to falsify academic certificates.
He explained that during his tenure, and in close cooperation with colleagues across various departments, the administration worked on critical files related to e-learning, examination organization, and safeguarding academic records, ensuring the protection of students’ and graduates’ rights despite the exceptional challenges posed by the war.
Rabah stressed that his resignation was not an evasion of responsibility, but rather a principled ethical stance, emphasizing that protecting academic records is a matter of national security and essential to preserving the University of Khartoum’s local and international reputation.
He concluded by affirming that the University of Khartoum is “greater than individuals and positions,” capable of renewing itself and overcoming crises, calling for integrity, transparency, and the protection of future generations’ rights.
