“Emergency Lawyers” Hold the RSF Responsible for the Kalogi Victims

The group “Emergency Lawyers” has held the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fully responsible for the attack that targeted residential areas in the city of Kalogi in South Kordofan State, resulting in dozens of casualties, most of them women and children.

In a statement issued yesterday, the group said that RSF-operated drones targeted three civilian sites on Thursday, December 4, in a residential area in Kalogi, located in the Gadier locality of South Kordofan.

The statement added that the attack began with the bombing of a kindergarten, after which the drone targeted Kalogi Hospital while victims were being rescued, before attacking a third civilian site near the first two locations. The group described the attack as a massacre intended to expand the scope of the armed conflict and extend it into previously safe areas, directly targeting children who make up the majority of the victims.

The group affirmed that the attack constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, including the protection of civilians—especially children—and essential civilian facilities.

It further considered the bombing of the kindergarten, hospital, and residential areas a war crime under the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, given the deliberate targeting of civilians.

The group called for immediate accountability and an end to the targeting of civilian sites, stressing the need to ensure that such attacks are not exploited for military purposes in ways that could fuel recruitment, prolong the conflict, and lead to its expansion into other areas of South Kordofan State.
