International organizations and volunteer groups in Darfur have reported continued waves of civilians fleeing El-Fasher after the city fell under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) late last week. The displaced are moving toward various towns across Sudan, including Tawila and Al-Dabba.

In a statement released Monday, the General Coordination of Camps for Displaced Persons and Refugees in Darfur said that the Tawila area received 360 families—totaling 1,117 individuals—on the same day. The statement added that the total number of displaced families arriving between October 18 and 27 had risen to 831, comprising 3,038 people.

The Coordination emphasized that the newly displaced are facing dire humanitarian conditions and are in urgent need of essential, life-saving services such as water, healthcare, food, nutrition, shelter materials, protection, education, psychosocial support, and other emergency assistance.

According to UN reports, thousands of displaced persons fled El-Fasher after the RSF’s takeover, heading toward various locations, including the town of Al-Dabba in Northern State.

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday that thousands of women and girls had fled El-Fasher, undertaking a grueling journey on foot that lasted up to 15 days to reach Al-Dabba. It added that they are enduring extremely harsh living conditions, with most having no shelter, and are in urgent need of protection and healthcare services.

In a new post today, UNFPA confirmed it had completely lost contact with the medical team at El-Fasher Maternity Hospital — the last functioning hospital in the city.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) stated that its presence in Al-Dabba Camp remains the only source of healthcare for families who fled the violence in El-Fasher. Through its mobile clinics, UNICEF is providing vaccination services, maternal care, and life-saving treatments for children.
