The Sudanese Teachers Committee condemns the rape of the Al-Abyad student

The Sudanese Teachers’ Committee has condemned the silence and concealment by the administration of Al-Dawha Model Private School in El-Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State, regarding the rape of a young student that occurred last Thursday.

The committee described the administration’s attempt to cover up the crime—motivated by fear for the school’s reputation and financial interests—as “a disgraceful act that violates all values of education and professionalism.” It called for an immediate investigation into the school administration and all individuals involved in concealing the crime.

In a statement issued today, the committee revealed that the crime—committed by the school’s Islamic education teacher—contradicts every ethical, religious, and professional principle.

The statement stressed that what happened was not an isolated act but a blatant violation of childhood innocence and a serious breach of the educational and moral code, deserving the highest levels of public and institutional outrage.

The committee expressed full solidarity with the victim’s family, urging judicial authorities to ensure justice without leniency or delay. It also called on the Federal Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education in North Kordofan State to take immediate and strict measures, including:

Temporarily closing the school until the investigation is concluded.
Reviewing the licensing of private schools and their teacher recruitment mechanisms.

The committee affirmed that protecting students—both boys and girls—is an absolute priority that cannot be compromised, and that silence over such crimes constitutes implicit participation in them.
