US Lab: RSF Preparing for Imminent Attack

An American university has warned that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are preparing for a large-scale imminent attack using suicide drones from Nyala, South Darfur.
The urgent alert was issued by the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab at Yale School of Public Health in the United States, based on satellite imagery captured on Monday, September 29, 2025.
According to the lab, at least 43 drones were identified near Nyala Airport, which is under RSF control, including 23 suicide drones consistent with the “Shahed” model. The lab also detected 36 launch platforms, representing an increase of 20 platforms in just three days.
Yale’s lab stressed that this large concentration of drones at the site indicates an imminent attack that poses a “clear and present danger” to civilians, vital infrastructure, and the delivery of humanitarian aid.
It further noted that this buildup aligns with the RSF’s repeated pattern of suicide drone attacks, which have recently targeted locations from El Fasher to Port Sudan.
These drones have a long range of 1,500 to 2,500 kilometers, meaning that the entire country of Sudan falls within launch range from Nyala.
