Urgent Appeal from Jabal Awliya Emergency Room Amid Rising White Nile Levels
Moatinoon
The Jabal Awliya Emergency Committee has issued an urgent appeal to address the rising levels of the White Nile, which have surpassed the flood stage.
The committee called on all government agencies, local humanitarian organizations, and philanthropists to support local volunteers who are working with limited resources, as the water rise now threatens large parts of the locality.

In a statement today, the committee warned that areas along the White Nile in Jabal Awliya locality face a real danger due to rising water levels. The flooding has swept away all barriers along the riverbanks in several areas, including Al-Assal, Tayba Al-Hasnab, Al-Shegilab, and the Kalaklat neighborhoods, which are now submerged by the swelling Nile waters. It further cautioned that the water is advancing into residential neighborhoods and homes, putting them at risk of collapse on their residents.
The Early Warning Unit of the Nile Water Affairs Department at the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation issued a red alert today, indicating a very high risk of flooding along the Nile strip in the states of Blue Nile, Sennar, Khartoum, River Nile, and White Nile, effective from this morning until next Tuesday evening.
The ministry urged citizens to take maximum precautions to protect lives and property, including avoiding low-lying areas and valleys, safeguarding crops and livestock, securing documents, food, and water in elevated places, and adhering to official instructions while supporting community solidarity to assist the most vulnerable groups.
The unit reported continued rising water levels along all Nile banks throughout this week. It noted that inflow at the Blue Nile had dropped to 699 million cubic meters per day, with discharge at Roseires Dam reduced to 613.
According to the unit, flood levels have been recorded at the following stations: Wad Al-Ais (Singa), Khartoum, Madani, Shendi, Atbara, Berber, and Jabal Awliya. States that have reached flood levels include Blue Nile, Sennar, Gezira, Khartoum, River Nile, and White Nile. Rivers at flood stage are: the Blue Nile (Ad-Dam – Khartoum), White Nile (Al-Jabalain – Khartoum), and the main Nile (Khartoum – Dongola).
