Two Young South Sudanese Launch a Fundraising Campaign for Sudan

Moatinoon
In a remarkable humanitarian initiative, two young South Sudanese men, Guil Moluol and John Kwiel, decided to undertake a journey across the United Kingdom—from its southernmost point to its northernmost—in an effort to draw global attention to the severe humanitarian situation in Sudan amid the ongoing war, and to support children’s right to education.

The two launched a fundraising campaign aimed at building a school in Sudan. While the initial target was to raise £35,000, the overwhelming response to the initiative has so far resulted in £55,000 being collected, enabling them to decide to build two schools instead of one.

The total distance of the challenge is approximately 700 miles, of which about 500 miles have already been completed under harsh weather conditions, including low temperatures and heavy rainfall—an embodied expression of their determination to deliver their humanitarian message.

During their journey, the two stopped in Edinburgh, where the Sudanese community honored them in appreciation of their significant efforts, their prominent role in supporting Sudan and its children, and their contribution to strengthening the spirit of human solidarity.

This initiative stands as an inspiring example of the power of individual action when coupled with belief in a just cause, reaffirming that humanitarian solidarity can transcend borders and make a real difference in the lives of those affected.
